Speaking on THE MORNING SHIFT podcast, the 32-year-old loose forward explained that despite expectations of a competitive race across New Zealand clubs, only the Auckland-based Blues pursued his signature.

Savea signed a one-year deal with the Blues, which he described as "the last dance" and likely the final chapter of his domestic career in New Zealand.
