Los Angeles Lakers legend Elgin Baylor revolutionized basketball through his innovative aerial style, midair adjustments, and historic scoring feats. During his illustrious career, Baylor averaged 27.4 points and 13.5 rebounds per game, earning 10 All-NBA First Team selections and 11 All-Star appearances. His landmark achievements include becoming the first player to score 70 points in an NBA game with a 71-point performance against the New York Knicks in 1960.
Baylor also established an enduring NBA Finals single-game record by scoring 61 points against the Boston Celtics in Game 5 of the 1962 Finals. Stadium Rant highlights how Baylor balanced military service during the 1961–62 season while averaging 38.3 points. Although Baylor retired in the 1971–72 season without winning a championship as an active player, his pioneering above-the-rim athleticism influenced later icons such as Julius Erving and Michael Jordan.
