Tanzid dominated the opening stand of 124 with Shadman Islam but fell just before lunch

Afghanistan's pace attack triggered a middle-order fightback to limit Bangladesh to 317 for eight by stumps on day one in Abu Dhabi. Despite half-centuries from Tanzid Hasan, Shadman Islam, and Litton Das, fast bowlers Mohammad Saleem, Yamin Ahmadzai, and Ismat Alam combined to claim seven wickets. Bangladesh initially appeared dominant after an explosive start, but late strikes tipped the opening day back into a competitive balance.
Tanzid led Bangladesh's early surge with an aggressive 83 off 71 balls, sharing a 124-run opening partnership with Shadman, who made 67. Bangladesh later suffered a mini-collapse, losing three wickets for just four runs to slip from 221 for two. Litton Das halted the slide with a composed 53, but Saleem's three-wicket haul (3-70) helped Afghanistan finish the day on top.
