1. FC Köln host rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach in a high-stakes Rhine derby, marking Alexander Blessin's first away match as Gladbach coach. Gladbach enter the clash winless and sitting bottom of the Bundesliga table without a single point. Meanwhile, Köln sit four points ahead of their rivals but have not won a league match since matchday one and currently hold an 18-game streak without a clean sheet.
Both sides face significant personnel concerns heading into the fixture. Köln coach Rene Wagner must cope without injured starting strikers Ragnar Ache and Thijs Dallinga, as well as Timo Hübers. Gladbach arrive with defensive struggles, having conceded 17 league goals this season, and remain sidelined without Jens Castrop, Franck Honorat, Nicolas Kühn, and Enzo Leopold.
