Bongi Mbonambi’s Sharks career is hanging in the balance as the Springbok hooker awaits a disciplinary ruling over alleged misconduct.

Bongi Mbonambi's future with the Sharks is in doubt as the hooker awaits a disciplinary ruling regarding alleged misconduct. The 35-year-old Springbok is involved in a months-long hearing stemming from an alleged breach of team rules during a pre-season camp at Bayala Private Safari Lodges. A formal decision from the presiding officer is expected within the next two weeks.
Mbonambi is currently not training with his teammates despite being fit, and Sharks coach JP Pietersen declined to comment on his absence. Teammates Eduan Swart and Fez Mbatha previously received written warnings over the incident, while Trevor Nyakane could avoid major punishment. The ongoing dispute also creates uncertainty regarding Mbonambi's availability for the Springboks' upcoming November Test matches.
