The San Francisco 49ers have announced the release of edge rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo. Through four games this season, Okoronkwo logged the team's second-most snaps among edge rushers, generating 10 pressures alongside an 11.8% pass-rush win rate while playing 33 snaps against the run.
Writer Kyle Posey reports the transaction creates a roster spot to activate Mykel Williams from the PUP list. The move addresses the defensive front's need for run defense as coordinator Raheem Morris adjusts edge personnel alongside Khalid Kareem, Keion White, Romello Height, and Matt Judon.
