Over the past year the Red Sox have traded away a haul of pitching prospects, but one recent draft pick has emerged as a potential impact arm.

Left-handed pitcher Brown has emerged as a breakout prospect for the Boston Red Sox, earning the organization's Minor League Pitcher of the Year award. An eighth-round pick in 2025 out of Old Dominion, the 22-year-old led the Red Sox minor league system with 143 strikeouts over 106 2/3 innings while recording a 3.46 ERA across 22 appearances split between Low-A Salem and High-A Greenville.
Brown's emergence arrives after Boston traded several young pitchers to acquire major league talent. Rather than relying on elite velocity, Brown succeeded by adding a cutter, sweeper, and sinker to his repertoire, pairing them with sharp command. He plans to focus on increasing his fastball velocity and refining his offspeed pitches during the offseason.
