The Story in 60 Seconds

Former England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio raised £100,500 from the auction of 12 items of personal memorabilia at Budds auction house on October 13. The highest-selling lot was his Rugby World Cup winner's medal, which sold to an online bidder at the lower end of its £50,000 to £80,000 estimate. Other items sold included medals from the Six Nations, Champions Cup, and 2007 World Cup, while 10 items went unsold.

The auction follows Dallaglio being declared bankrupt last year after divorcing his wife, Alice. He had previously sold the family home for £2.4 million to address debts, which included substantial overdrawn director's loans and claims from HM Revenue & Customs. Earlier this year, his bankruptcy discharge was suspended by mutual consent as he continues working with the bankruptcy trustee.
