The Story in 60 Seconds

Former AS Roma staff member Luca Fatiga has criticized club owners the Friedkin Group for their handling of Jose Mourinho. Fatiga, who worked under Mourinho during his tenure from May 2021 to January 2024, claimed the owners failed to fight for the manager during his final year despite the strong connection he had built with the supporters.

While the Friedkins later appointed Gian Piero Gasperini and guided Roma back to the Champions League, Fatiga suggested the ownership may have struck lucky with Gasperini's success. Sport Witness notes that the American owners, who also own Everton, currently enjoy popularity in Rome following significant summer spending and stadium progress.
