The Tampa Bay Rays' magic seems to have worn off with former New York Mets player Cole Sulser.

Former New York Mets relief pitcher Cole Sulser struggled in his postseason debut for the Tampa Bay Rays, allowing three earned runs across 0.2 innings in Game 1 against the Cleveland Guardians. After starter Drew Rasmussen turned in a strong performance, Tampa Bay's bullpen surrendered the lead, letting a 4-3 deficit expand late in the game.
Writer Tim Boyle argues that Tampa Bay's typical magic with reclaimed pitchers appears to be fading with Sulser. Although Sulser posted strong stretches in August and September to secure a postseason roster spot, his regular season was hampered by a 4.31 ERA and severe struggles during May and June.
