In mid-July, right before the North Wilkesboro race, NASCAR made a rule adjustment to the Next Gen car. The sanctioning body mandated that teams add struts to the front splitter.

Garage speculation has emerged questioning whether NASCAR intentionally targeted Toyota after the sanctioning body mandated front splitter struts on the Next Gen car in mid-July. The rule change, implemented ahead of the North Wilkesboro race, aimed to level out competition across the series without any team having violated technical regulations.
While the mandate initially drew little attention, concerns arose among observers after Toyota appeared to lose its early-season advantage on the racetrack. Meanwhile, Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Chase Briscoe and Christopher Bell recently fought for victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where Briscoe claimed the win.
