Mobility Resort Motegi has begun repurposing parts of its historic 1.5-mile oval speedway into spectator areas while keeping other sections intact. Phased redevelopment began in May under track owner Honda, completing in time for the MotoGP event on October 4. Additions include a campsite at Turn 1, a viewing deck at Turn 5, and the Victory Corner Deck offering panoramic views.
While sections of asphalt banking were replaced with grass, remaining portions continue to be used for parking. Honda subsidiary Mobilityland confirmed redevelopment is occurring in phases, with no further changes planned ahead of the Super GT finale in November. The oval previously hosted IndyCar and NASCAR before being decommissioned in 2022.
