F1 made a historic announcement on Tuesday with the confirmation that the sport will be returning to Africa for the first time since 1993.

Formula 1 has announced a 10-year deal to host the African Grand Prix in Rwanda starting in the early 2030s, marking the sport's first race on the continent since 1993. Following the release of early concept images, numerous fans heavily criticized the proposed circuit layout online, arguing that it lacks overtaking zones and resembles the unpopular Madring street circuit.
The purpose-built FIA Grade 1 circuit will be constructed in Bugesera, roughly 40 kilometers south of Kigali near a new international airport. While some fans praised the track's natural elevation changes and permanent circuit design, F1 President Stefano Domenicali welcomed the long-term deal as a historic expansion for the championship.
