Yesterday morning, Mike Matheson was absent from the Canadiens' practice. When a player misses practice, it sometimes means he just needs a little rest.
Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson was reportedly spotted at Montreal-Trudeau Airport with difficulty walking to travel for a medical appointment regarding a lower-body injury. Although the Canadiens officially listed him as day-to-day and ruled him out for the upcoming game, reports indicate he is likely traveling to consult a specialist for a second opinion.
Matheson's potential extended absence leaves head coach Martin St-Louis and assistant Stéphane Robidas with only six healthy defensemen. Possible AHL call-up candidates include David Reinbacher and Luke Mittelstadt, as Montreal deals with multiple injuries across their roster.
