Former South Africa coach Jake White has beaten a strong field to be named as Fiji coach ahead of next year's Rugby World Cup in Australia.

South Africa's 2007 World Cup-winning coach Jake White has been appointed to lead Fiji at the 2027 men's Rugby World Cup in Australia. The Fiji Rugby Union announced the 62-year-old on Tuesday after he beat candidates including Warren Gatland and Shaun Edwards. White replaces interim head coach Senirusi Seruvakula.
Fiji has been drawn alongside Spain, Canada, and Argentina for the tournament starting October 1. Ahead of the competition, White will face his former side South Africa in a warm-up fixture held on the NSW Central Coast in September.
