The New York Yankees chose Heliot Ramos over Jo Adell, and the Cleveland Guardians prospered.

Writer Adam Weinrib argues that the New York Yankees made a major trade deadline mistake by surrendering top prospects Henry Lalane and Kaeden Kent to acquire Heliot Ramos instead of pursuing Jo Adell. While the Cleveland Guardians acquired Adell from the Angels for a single catching prospect, Jacob Cozart, the Yankees paid a steeper price for Ramos, who ultimately saw limited postseason usage.
According to Weinrib, Adell has thrived in Cleveland with a 108 OPS+ and key postseason contributions during the ALDS and ALCS. Meanwhile, the Yankees sit eliminated from October baseball after choosing a player who proved less impactful.
