Two years ago this Rory McIlroy-Patrick Reed showdown would have seemed impossible. This week in India is a reminder of what's changed.

Rory McIlroy and longtime rival Patrick Reed are competing this week at Delhi Golf Club in the newly formed DP World India Championship. Both golfers are chasing valuable points in the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai standings as the season heads toward its playoffs. Reed currently leads the rankings with 3,423.6 points, while McIlroy sits in third place with 3,115.9 points.
McIlroy is seeking his eighth career Race to Dubai title to match Colin Montgomerie's all-time record. Reed, who departed LIV Golf and completed a PGA Tour suspension, is aiming to become only the second American to win the season-long points race. Both players expressed mutual respect ahead of the event in India.
