Minnesota Wild captain Jared Spurgeon has been ruled out of Tuesday's game against the Winnipeg Jets due to an upper-body injury. The team announced the setback on social media ahead of the matchup in Manitoba. The absence marks another blow to the Wild's defensive unit, which is already missing top-pairing defenseman Brock Faber after he suffered a fractured skull during the preseason.
Spurgeon has recorded one goal and four assists through six games played this season. The veteran defenseman has spent his entire NHL career with Minnesota, totaling 443 points across 1,018 career regular-season appearances.
