The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday night, marking their second consecutive shootout victory. Alexandre Texier scored the game-winner in the shootout, while Cole Caufield and Zach Bolduc also converted their attempts against Sabres goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. In regulation, Lane Hutson, Caufield, and Josh Anderson provided the goals for Montreal, which outshot Buffalo 38-17.
Buffalo stayed competitive behind Luukkonen's 35 saves alongside two goals from Olen Zellweger and a third-period tally from Josh Norris. Hutson led all Canadiens skaters with 27:07 of ice time and added an assist, while Montreal successfully killed all five Buffalo power plays. The Canadiens will next face the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night.
