AC Milan were held to a 1-1 draw by Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium after Adrien Rabiot's opening goal was cancelled out by Cas Odenthal. Rabiot gave Milan the lead in the 63rd minute off a Luka Modric assist, but Odenthal equalized just five minutes later from an Armand Laurienté corner to share the points.
The match was marred by early injuries, with Milan defender Matteo Gabbia stretchered off with a severe thigh strain and Sassuolo's Fedde Leysen exiting with a knee sprain. Sassuolo had a late Kristian Thorstvedt goal disallowed for a foul, while Mike Maignan made key saves to preserve the draw.
