Scoot Henderson's strong preseason performances have prompted the Portland Trail Blazers to reconsider his role in their guard rotation. Starting alongside Damian Lillard on Tuesday, Henderson recorded four assists in a 110-98 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Head coach Micah Nori saw evidence that Henderson could function effectively without dominating possession, following an earlier 14-point outing against the London Lions.
Edward Perovic of Heavy writes that Henderson's adaptability could help him earn playing time despite a crowded backcourt that includes Damian Lillard, Ja Morant, and Jrue Holiday. Perovic also notes that Portland is reportedly unlikely to agree to a rookie-scale extension before the deadline, making Henderson's on-court versatility crucial ahead of his potential 2027 restricted free agency.
