The Story in 60 Seconds

Sai Sudharsan traveled to Jaipur at the request of national selectors to play in Tamil Nadu's Ranji Trophy opener against Rajasthan. The match served as red-ball preparation ahead of his upcoming tour to New Zealand with the India A squad. After scoring three runs in the first innings and briefly recovering from a minor knee injury, Sudharsan scored an unbeaten 26 off 67 balls in the second innings to help Tamil Nadu secure a draw.

Sudharsan explained that playing red-ball cricket helps him regain the necessary rhythm, cues, and pacing distinct from limited-overs formats. To prepare for expected seam and bounce in New Zealand conditions, he has been studying footage of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid batting in the country, while downplaying any internal rivalry with Devdutt Padikkal for team selection.
