On the back of outlandish rumours that Tottenham are willing to break their transfer record on Julian Alvarez, a new report has shed light on…

Julian Alvarez's transfer valuation has reportedly dropped significantly ahead of the January transfer window following a goalless start to the season for Atletico Madrid. According to reports from Sport, clubs are no longer considering offers exceeding €120 million (£101 million) for the 26-year-old forward. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have been linked with interest in the Argentina international after Atletico previously rejected massive summer bids.
Despite the reduced valuation, several obstacles could prevent Tottenham from completing a permanent transfer for Alvarez. The report notes that Alvarez's preferred destination remains Barcelona, while Spurs' potential lack of Champions League football and strict PSR financial constraints may restrict their January spending to value-focused signings.
