The Rangers are still in the early stages of evaluating the team without Igor Shesterkin, but the way they are playing offers possibilities.

Igor Shesterkin's impending placement on season-ending long-term injured reserve provides the New York Rangers with approximately $10 million in salary cap relief. Following a 6-2 start to the season, the emergence of rookie goaltender Dylan Garand has enabled team management to consider various roster upgrades as they target a return to the playoffs.
According to a league source, general manager Chris Drury is considering non-goalie options as well as other roster needs. No definitive decisions have been made, but potential areas of reinforcement include center depth after Joe Veleno was sidelined for at least a month with a lower-body injury.
