The Vancouver Canucks placed center Aatu Räty on waivers Wednesday, a move that clears space as they prepare to activate forward Filip Chytil from injured reserve, via Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
The Vancouver Canucks placed 23-year-old forward Aatu Räty on waivers Wednesday to create a roster spot for activating Filip Chytil from injured reserve. If Räty clears waivers unclaimed, the team plans to assign him to the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks. The decision comes as Vancouver manages an excess of roster options capable of playing center.
Räty has registered 12 goals and 26 points across 103 career NHL games while excelling at faceoffs with a 59.5 percent win rate since the 2024-25 season. Currently playing on a league-minimum contract, Räty was reportedly offered in trade discussions prior to the waiver move, but Vancouver found no trade partners.
