Key Things to Know

  • The Lakers signed free-agent guard Jahmir Young to a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract in a corresponding move.
  • Swider played in three preseason games for Los Angeles before being released.
The Story in 60 Seconds

The Los Angeles Lakers have waived 6-foot-8 forward Cole Swider ahead of the regular season, terminating his non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract. In a corresponding transaction, the team signed 26-year-old guard Jahmir Young to an Exhibit 10 deal ahead of their final preseason matchup against the Denver Nuggets. Swider had appeared in three preseason games for head coach JJ Redick's squad after returning to the team in September.

Young joins Los Angeles after their G League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Lakers, acquired his returning-player rights in September. If Young does not secure an NBA roster spot before the league's October 19 deadline, the Exhibit 10 agreement allows him to join Coachella Valley and receive a developmental bonus.
