Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio announced that linebackers Jihaad Campbell and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. will split defensive playing time going forward. Fangio refuted a broadcast rumor suggesting Trotter was set to replace Campbell as the starter, clarifying that Campbell retains his starting spot while Trotter will see an expanded rotational role.
Trotter impressed the coaching staff during a Week 4 start in place of injured veteran Zack Baun. While Philadelphia had intended to integrate Trotter into the defense the following week, an opening kickoff ejection disrupted those plans, which the team now intends to resume.
