Stoke City winger Ato Ampah has undergone serious surgery following a severe knee injury sustained during a comeback match with the Under-21 side. Stoke manager Mark Robins confirmed the 20-year-old faces an extensive spell on the sidelines, explaining that medical staff had to operate carefully to protect the surfaces of his joints long-term.
The former Chelsea youth player joined Stoke in February after a decade with the London club but is yet to make his senior debut. Ampah, who previously overcame toe and pre-season injury setbacks, stated on social media that he remains determined to return stronger.
