Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Chris Waddle argued that spending around €80m (£67.5m) to re-sign striker Troy Parrott would make no sense. The Republic of Ireland international originally left Spurs in 2024 for AZ Alkmaar before completing a transfer to Real Betis, where he reportedly has a €100m release clause.
Waddle explained that buying Parrott back for an exorbitant fee after letting him go cheaply is illogical, though he acknowledged clubs face tough choices with developing academy players. Parrott scored 51 goals in 97 games for AZ Alkmaar and is now under contract with Betis until 2031.
