The Story in 60 Seconds

The Los Angeles Lakers are actively exploring trade possibilities ahead of the NBA's October 19 roster cutdown deadline, according to insider Jake Fischer. Los Angeles entered training camp with 16 guaranteed contracts and must cut down to the regular-season limit of 15 standard-contract players. General manager Rob Pelinka previously suggested a consolidation trade could help solve the roster count by sending out more players than the franchise receives.

Fischer reported that the Milwaukee Bucks and Memphis Grizzlies are also exploring deals as the deadline approaches. Head coach JJ Redick faces ongoing evaluation decisions amid depth competition on the wing, including Dalton Knecht's roster standing, as well as operational issues involving frontcourt rebounding and backcourt organization.
