Detroit Red Wings interim GM Shawn Horcoff indicated that the club is "open-minded" to different contract options for defenseman Simon Edvinsson, who remains an unsigned RFA.
Detroit Red Wings interim general manager Shawn Horcoff stated that the organization remains open-minded to various contract options for unsigned restricted free agent defenseman Simon Edvinsson. Speaking after finalizing a seven-year contract extension for Alex DeBrincat, Horcoff emphasized that the club has no intention of trading the Swedish blueliner, despite Edvinsson's reported desire for a move away from the team.
Edvinsson reported to training camp without a deal after finishing his entry-level contract before briefly returning to Sweden out of frustration with stalled negotiations. Detroit retains his rights and must sign the 2021 sixth overall draft pick by the December 1 deadline to ensure his eligibility for the 2026-27 NHL season.
