The Story in 60 Seconds

A viral video purporting to show Lewis Hamilton ignoring Ferrari's team orders to pit under a safety car at the Singapore Grand Prix is fake, according to Dan Ripley of GPFans. Hamilton missed an opportunity to pit, committing to a one-stop strategy that dropped him to sixth behind Charles Leclerc, Kimi Antonelli, Lando Norris, and Oscar Piastri. Hamilton subsequently apologized to the team and explained that he had missed the pit-lane entry.

Ripley reports that the leaked onboard video circulated on social media was actually fabricated using spliced audio from previous races, including the Dutch and Hungarian Grands Prix. Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur confirmed both cars were instructed to pit, but authentic onboard footage had been unavailable following race-day broadcast blackouts at the Marina Bay circuit.
