Manchester United Under-21s manager Adam Lawrence has commended 18-year-old defender Dan Armer following his inclusion in the senior squad. First-team manager Michael Carrick named the academy standout in the traveling party for Tuesday's Champions League match against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Although Armer did not make an appearance during the match, Lawrence praised the defender's commitment and hunger to develop over the past 18 months to two years. Armer previously featured under Carrick in pre-season and helped Darren Fletcher's Under-18s reach the FA Youth Cup final last season.
