The runs have dried up recently for Australia's wicketkeeper but his standard behind the stumps continues to rise

Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey says he is fully prepared to handle Australia's demanding schedule, which involves up to 21 Test matches over a 12-month period. Carey is projected to keep wicket to over 16,000 deliveries during this span, though he emphasized that natural breaks between series provide sufficient rest.
While Carey's wicketkeeping standard continues to draw praise from assistant coach Matthew Wade, the 35-year-old is enduring a lean run with the bat. Heading into the second Test against South Africa in Gqeberha, Carey holds a top score of just 30 across nine innings in 2026.
