No doubt, Jazz Chisholm is among the best second basemen in baseball, but he would create a myriad of concerns, short- and long-term for the Tigers.

Motor City Bengals argues that the Detroit Tigers should avoid signing free agent second baseman Jazz Chisholm despite rumors linking him to the club. Although MLB.com's Mark Feinsand listed Detroit as a potential destination to replace likely departing second baseman Gleyber Torres, writer Stephen Riesen contends that Chisholm's personality, recent performance, and contract expectations make him a poor fit for the organization.
The writer notes that Chisholm produced a modest 1.7 bWAR in 2026 while reportedly seeking a lucrative long-term contract. Riesen suggests Detroit should instead rely on its internal infield talent, including Hao-Yu Lee, Colt Keith, and Max Anderson, rather than committing major financial resources to Chisholm.
