The Seattle Kraken announced that defenseman Brandon Montour sustained a lower-body injury and would not return to their game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The incident occurred three minutes into the second period when Montour fell awkwardly after his foot caught Nikita Kucherov's stick at the blue line. Montour logged only 8:05 of ice time before leaving the contest.
Montour, an alternate captain for Seattle, has recorded five assists in eight games this season while leading the team's defensemen in several possession metrics. The Kraken hope the injury is not severe as they aim to improve their standing in the Pacific Division.
