Former Formula 1 driver Karun Chandhok has raised concerns that Mercedes' latest aerodynamic upgrade package has failed to deliver the expected performance boost. Speaking on the Sky Sports F1 Show after the Singapore Grand Prix, Chandhok argued that the Brackley outfit's pace has plateaued in recent races despite Kimi Antonelli finishing third and leading the drivers' championship.
At the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Antonelli ran the upgraded W17 while George Russell competed with the previous specification. Chandhok noted that Russell's older-spec car was faster on Friday and close in qualifying, suggesting the upgrades did not deliver a substantial step forward in either Malaysia or Singapore.
