Detroit Red Wings goaltender Daniil Tarasov is making the most of his early starts with the club, and is earning more playing time.

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Daniil Tarasov is earning more playing time following an impressive start to the season. The writer highlights that Tarasov stopped 17 of 18 shots in Detroit's 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night. Through his early starts, Tarasov holds a 1-0-1 record, a 0.80 goals-against average, a .965 save percentage, and one shutout.
Tarasov signed a one-year deal with Detroit after playing for the Florida Panthers last season, stepping in as backup to John Gibson. The Hockey News notes that Tarasov's goals-against average and save percentage lead all NHL goaltenders in the early season. Writer Michael Whitaker suggests head coach Todd McLellan is likely to call upon Tarasov more often if his strong play continues.
