Actor Jude Law has been cast to portray former Liverpool manager Bill Shankly in an upcoming television series written by Jack Thorne. Produced in collaboration with A24, Box To Box Films, and Liverpool Football Club, the series will focus on Shankly's transformative 15-year tenure that established the club as an English football powerhouse.
Filming will take place on location in Liverpool and at Anfield, with Shankly's granddaughter, Karen Gill, actively involved in the project. Liverpool chairman Tom Werner noted the production could potentially follow the club across multiple seasons beyond Shankly's era, akin to The Crown.
