If selected, Jaffer would be the chair of the selector's committee by virtue of having played the most Tests (31)

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has officially applied for the vacant position on the senior national men's selection committee. The vacancy opened after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opted not to renew Ajit Agarkar's contract. If appointed by the Cricket Advisory Committee, Jaffer would become the chairman of selectors, having played the most Test matches among candidates.
The 48-year-old represented India in 31 Tests between 2000 and 2008, scoring 1,944 runs with five centuries. Jaffer also holds the record as the highest run-scorer and century-maker in Ranji Trophy history. The current selection committee includes Pragyan Ojha, RP Singh, Ajay Ratra, and Shiv Sunder Das.
