David Stearns is now three years removed from being part of the Brewers organization, but the team headed to the World Series without him has his fingerprints on almost half of it.

Greg Joyce writes that David Stearns helped build the roster foundation for the Milwaukee Brewers' run to the World Series, even though Stearns is three years removed from the organization. Stearns served as the Brewers' top decision-maker from September 2015 through October 2022 before eventually becoming president of baseball operations for the New York Mets.
Stearns acquired nearly half of the current roster through drafts, international signings, and trades prior to his departure. His former assistant general manager, Matt Arnold, took over leadership after 2022 and guided the club to an NLCS sweep over the Los Angeles Dodgers to secure Milwaukee's first World Series appearance in 44 years.
