Newcastle United could be looking for another deal at Benfica in January, for 18-year-old full-back Daniel Banjaqui. Manchester United could ruin their plans, though. That’s because the latter have joined the growing list of clubs’ taking notice of the defender…

Newcastle United are targeting an 18-year-old Benfica full-back, Daniel Banjaqui, for a potential January transfer, but face serious competition from Manchester United. According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, both clubs have gathered information on Banjaqui and sit at the front of the queue alongside Barcelona and Inter Milan after his breakout performances under manager Marco Silva.
Benfica are reportedly open to a permanent deal in the €35m to €40m range, though continued development could see their valuation climb past €50m. Banjaqui signed a contract running until 2031 with an €80m release clause in April, meaning the Portuguese club are under no pressure to sell cheaply despite Newcastle's prior relationship from signing Amar Dedic.
