It’s hard to be a nugget on standby. Mathis Albert is already starting to find it long on the side

Borussia Dortmund prospect Mathis Albert is reportedly frustrated with his lack of playing time under manager Niko Kovac, according to Sky Sports Germany. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, who joined Dortmund from the LA Galaxy in 2024, has made only two senior appearances despite earning four senior caps for the United States under Mauricio Pochettino.
Dortmund management is urging patience and hopes to extend his contract, which currently runs through 2027. Albert has drawn interest from elite European sides including Chelsea, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain, the latter of which had an offer rejected by Dortmund in 2025.
