Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers fell to a short-handed Boston Celtics team tonight, 120-125, at Xfinity Mobile Arena, despite Jayson Tatum and Paul George being sidelined.
Joel Embiid stated that the Philadelphia 76ers' star players do not need to sacrifice their roles following a 125-120 preseason loss to the Boston Celtics. Despite the defeat against a shorthanded Boston squad missing Jayson Tatum and Paul George, Embiid rejected the idea that anyone on the roster needs to take a backseat offensively, arguing instead that the team can thrive by supporting whoever performs best on a given night.
The game marked the first time Embiid and veteran LeBron James shared the court for Philadelphia. Embiid led the 76ers with 27 points, Tyrese Maxey scored 22, Jaylen Brown contributed 20, and James tallied eight points alongside eight rebounds and seven assists. The 76ers will next face the New York Knicks on October 20 for their regular season opener.
