The BAFTA award winning actor will play the legendary manager in Jack Thorne's new TV series, with filming to take place in Liverpool

Actor Jude Law has been cast to portray legendary former Liverpool manager Bill Shankly in an upcoming television series. Liverpool chairman Tom Werner announced the casting, revealing that the production is being developed alongside studio A24 and Liverpool Football Club. Werner compared the project's potential scope to The Crown, noting it could follow the club beyond Shankly's era into future seasons.
Shankly's granddaughter, Karen Gill, is involved in the production, and filming is set to take place across the city of Liverpool. Writer Jack Thorne stated the series aims to celebrate both the football club and the city, while highlighting the struggles of the 1960s and 1970s.
