Former Italian forward Aldo Serena has defended Newcastle United loan striker Nick Woltemade amid media criticism over Juventus' start to the season. Serena praised Woltemade's technique and link-up play under manager Luciano Spalletti, noting that the forward remains convincing despite needing improvements in decision-making and hold-up play.
Woltemade has scored in both of his Europa League starts for Juventus, including a goal against Celta Vigo, despite being limited to 80 league minutes off the bench. Spalletti is reportedly considering starting Woltemade alongside striker Kolo Muani for Sunday's Serie A fixture against Lazio in Turin.
