Kevin Durant and Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia exchanged remarks on social media platform X, culminating in Durant taking a public shot involving former teammate Bradley Beal. After Ishbia discussed throwing money at early franchise problems and praised Phoenix's current culture, Durant responded by telling the owner he should be thankful he does not have to pay him an absurd amount of money to play for another team.
The comment targeted Phoenix's 2025 buyout of Beal, where the Suns stretched $96.9 million of his contract over five years. Beal subsequently signed a two-year, $11 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, leaving Phoenix paying him while he plays elsewhere in the Western Conference.
