James Wiseman almost gave up on the NBA. Now he’s on the opening night roster for the defending champs. The Knicks invited a number of veterans to compete for the last spot on their roster, an approach that worked well…

Former Golden State Warriors No. 2 overall draft pick James Wiseman has earned the final spot on the New York Knicks' opening-night roster. Wiseman secured the position after competing against several veterans in training camp, while fellow center competitor Drew Eubanks was waived after suffering a torn pectoral muscle. The move allows Wiseman to serve as the team's third center behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Andre Drummond.
The 25-year-old center previously struggled with injuries across stints with Golden State, the Detroit Pistons, and the Indiana Pacers. Knicks head coach Mike Brown, who previously coached Wiseman with the Warriors, offered him another opportunity to establish himself as a reliable backup big man alongside stars like Jalen Brunson.
