The Sacramento Kings announced they have waived training camp invitees Viktor Lakhin, Tristen Newton, and Elfrid Payton. Payton, a nine-year NBA veteran originally drafted 10th overall in 2014, joined Sacramento on an Exhibit 9 contract in September to compete for a spot on the standard roster.
Newton and Lakhin are both expected to join the team's G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings, where each can earn bonuses worth up to $91,000 for staying at least 60 days. The next step for Payton remains unclear, as his deal did not include Exhibit 10 language.
