The six-time Major winner has hit back at Kisner's suggestion that his main motivation for playing in the DP World India Championship was his appearance fee

Rory McIlroy has responded to criticism from Kevin Kisner regarding his motivations for playing in the DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club. Speaking on the Fore Play podcast, Kisner claimed McIlroy traveled strictly for a reported $10 million appearance fee rather than to help grow the game globally. McIlroy pushed back after finishing tied for 42nd, questioning how Kisner could know his intent and arguing players can earn money while holding genuine interest in expanding golf.
McIlroy emphasized India's significant growth potential as an international market and labeled his visit a worthwhile step for the sport. On the course, Eugenio Chacarra claimed victory to move atop the Race to Dubai rankings, leaving McIlroy sitting in third behind Chacarra and Patrick Reed heading into the final two events of the season.
